China - Floods and landslides (ECHO 06 Aug 2024)

Heavy rainfall has been affecting Sichuan Province in south-central China since 3 August, causing floods and triggering landslides that have resulted in casualties and damage.
According to media reports, as of 4 August, eight people died, 19 are still missing, and 939 people have been affected by flash floods and landslides in Ridi Village, in Kangding county in the Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture (Sichuan province). In addition, several houses and bridges have been destroyed.
On 5-6 August, more heavy rainfall, with locally very heavy rainfall, is still forecasted over central and southern China.
