Heavy rainfall has been affecting central and western Chad since mid-May, causing floods, which have resulted in casualties and damage.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reports, as of 1 August, nine deaths, including three children, 15,558 affected people and 4,642 affected houses across Batha, Chari-Baguirmi, Logone Oriental, Mayo-Kebbi Ouest, Lake and Kanem provinces. In addition, several roads have been blocked.
Over the next 48 hours, more rainfall is forecasted over central and southern Chad, with locally very heavy rainfall in the eastern part of the country.
